Sahaja, spiritual spontaneity

Sahaja (सहज) is a Sanskrit word meaning “born with”, “innate”, “spontaneous”. It is the natural state of being before the mind gets involved, before calculation, before effort.

In the yogic tradition, Sahaja refers to the moment when practice stops being a doing and becomes a being. When posture, breath and meditation spring forth without the mind intervening, as a flower opens when the sun calls it.

It is a particularly precious state to explore in November: nature itself has already entered its deep rest, and the mind can let itself be carried by this quality of rediscovered simplicity.

On the programme

  • Practice of Hatha Yoga geared towards letting go and fluidity
  • Techniques of pranayama that invite the natural flow of the breath
  • Long, silent meditations to meet Sahaja
  • Study of traditional texts on spiritual spontaneity
  • Conversations about inner transformation

A retreat that gently prepares the way into winter, the season of contemplation and silence.
