Āṇanda Natha: Shajesh, master of Vedic Tantra

Shajesh is an authentic master in the lineage Āṇanda Natha, a living tantric tradition of Tamil Nadu and Kerala, rooted in the Shri Vidyā and Vedic Tantra.
Born in Kerala in 1969, he has practised Tantra Yoga since 1990 and received Pūrṇa Dīkṣā , the complete transmission, from his master after more than thirty five years of devotion, discipline and practice.

Meeting a master...

It was in 2022, exploring the web, that I came across Shajesh's website. The connection was immediate and deep, like an inner certainty that I had found something right and real.

Shajesh was born in Kerala, in the South of India, in 1969. Since 1990 he has lived a life of Tantra Yoga in the ancient lineage Āṇanda Natha. The great knowledge of Tantra Yoga has been preserved and passed down from Guru to Guru, and that is how it reached him.

He practised under the guidance of his guru for more than thirty five years. Only after many years of dedication, discipline and devotion did he receive Pūrṇa Dīkṣā , the final initiation, which confers the right to teach and pass on the lineage in turn.

Since 2008 he has taught these precious teachings to Indian and international students, including Tantric Japa Yoga, as part of Yoga teacher training programmes. His teaching is precise, clear and well referenced in the traditional texts. But above all, his presence is palpable, full of joy, humility, simplicity and deep inner experience.

The Āṇanda Natha lineage

The Āṇanda Natha lineage is a tantric tradition rooted in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The word Āṇanda means bliss, the bliss Shiva manifests in his cosmic dance at Chidambaram. Natha means lord, master, protector.

This tradition mainly passes on:

Tantric Japa Yoga: the sacred science of mantra and sound
The Shri Vidyā: the tantric tradition of the Goddess Tripurasundarī
Gayatri Tantra: meditation and pranayama around the 24 syllable mantra
Tantric rituals and pujas
The philosophy of Vedic Tantra

The lineage has a chain of transmission (parampara) from master to disciple going back many generations, in the great Shaivite centres of Tamil Nadu: Chidambaram, Thanjavur, Mayavaram, Thiruvarur. It is a tradition passed on in secrecy and discretion, according to the rules of traditional initiation.

My path with Shajesh

I followed Shajesh's training for three years, and I continue today. Every teaching I have received has confirmed and deepened what decades of practice had opened in me.

Shajesh has come to France and taught at Haimavati, in the forest of the Hérault. These retreats were moments of grace and deep transformation for all the participants.

It is in this continuity and trust that we now co-organise together a 3 year training in Paris , a rare transmission combining the depth of Traditional Yoga with the living teachings of the Āṇanda Natha lineage.

Many thanks to Shajesh for all he brings me,
for the clarity of his teaching and the light of his presence.
